Dr. Bostanci joined Ironwood Women’s Centers in September 2017. She specializes in the management of benign and malignant breast diseases, as well as caring for patients who are at high risk of developing breast cancer. Dr. Bostanci is a Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO) and Breast Oncology Fellowship trained breast surgeon. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Bostanci completed medical school at Baskent University, Ankara, Turkey. She completed her Internship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. She started a general surgery residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and completed her training at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. She then completed her Breast Oncology Fellowship at City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, CA. Dr. Bostanci also spent a couple of years doing research at the Penn State University focusing on breast development, lactation and evolution of breast cancer, which gives her a unique point of view caring for her patients. Dr. Bostanci is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Society of Surgical Oncology, American Society of Breast Surgeons, Association for Academic Surgery and American Society for Nutrition.
Dr. Bostanci emphasizes a multidisciplinary, patient-centered approach to the management of breast cancer and maintains close contact with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, plastic surgeons, pathologists, social workers, genetic counselors, and primary care physicians for each patient. Some of the procedures Dr. Bostanci performs include excisional biopsies; partial (lumpectomies), total, skin-sparing and nipple-sparing mastectomies (utilizing oncoplastic techniques when appropriate) and subcutaneous mastectomy for male gynecomastia; lymph node surgeries including sentinel lymph node biopsy, targeted and complete axillary lymph node dissections when indicated; and port placement for chemotherapy.
Dr. Bostanci is married with a son, daughter, and a yellow Labrador. She enjoys cooking, traveling and spending time with her family in her spare time.
