Dr. Trebska-McGowan is new to Arizona. She lived in Virginia for 18 years where she completed her medical school and general surgery residency at Virginia Commonwealth University (aka Medical College of Virginia) in Richmond. She also spent 3 years at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, MD focusing on immunotherapy and surgical oncology research. After completing her residency she journeyed westward to Memphis, TN to complete a fellowship in complex general surgical oncology. Her professional interests focus on both benign and malignant breast disorders, high risk breast cancer and soft tissue malignancies.
Dr. Trebska-McGowan offers her patients both breast conserving oncoplastic surgeries as well as total mastectomies. In cooperation with plastic surgeons she will ensure the best cosmetic and oncologic outcome for her patients. When axillary dissection is required, she performs reverse axillary mapping to decrease the risk of lymphedema.
She is a member of American College of Surgeons, Society of Surgical Oncology and American Association of Breast Surgeons. She is also pursuing further education in Genomic Cancer Risk Assessment.
She is originally from Poland where she lived until young adulthood before immigrating to the US. Her family with twin boys enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling and exploring new cultures and cuisines. She is working towards her dream of running a marathon in every state.
