In May 2023, the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) issued new recommendations for mammography. They now recommend that women start breast cancer screening at age 40 instead of the previously recommended starting age of 50.

Dr. Theresa Chan joined Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers in October 2021. She treats both benign and malignant breast conditions and focuses on a multidisciplinary, evidence-based approach to caring for each patient as a whole individual. She specializes in techniques such as nipple sparing mastectomies, skin sparing mastectomies, lumpectomies with oncoplastic closures, and axillary node dissections.
